The Well Fed Homestead
Hi! I’m Brenda Scott, and my friend Tarena and I write on our blog The Well Fed Homestead. We’re 2 moms from Oregon who have families with health issues & we write about food!
We both came to the conclusion that, for different reasons, the GAPS Diet was the answer for our families. We write about GAPS to inspire YOU to follow this diet for healing, as well! Tarena has 5 kids, and I have 7–we hope that we can encourage you, that if we can cook this way in the midst of our busy lives, so can you!
Our goal is to make GAPS cooking easier for you. We share recipes and tips, and we offer weekly GAPS legal meal plans. I am a research geek and sometimes stay up way too late reading medical studies. I enjoy sharing what I learn, and breaking down complex studies into easy-to-read posts. Tarena is a professional photographer, and graces the site with lovely pictures of food.
My family has been on the GAPS Diet for about 2 years and Tarena’s family is newer in the journey, so we have different points of view to share. Changing our eating habits has healed me of autoimmune issues, acid reflux, arthritis and major digestive problems. I love this diet! In just a short time, Tarena has seen healing in her family from GAPS as well.
We didn’t always eat this way. My family ate gluten free for 1 year before GAPS, but we still ate refined and processed junk. Tarena and I were both crazy coupon shoppers at one time–you know–the ones who stock up on boxes of cereal because you can get them for .30 each? Yup. That was us! Tarena admits to an addiction to Twix bars during her last pregnancy. I sometimes miss Froot Loops and Lucky Charms, but I feel so great, why would ever want to go back? =)
We hope that you will enjoy what we write, and that you’ll be inspired to eat good food!
